Nestlé appoints NMMU Business School for Supply Chain Development Programme

18 September 2012 – NMMU Business School has announced that Nestlé (South Africa) Pty Ltd. has entered into a partnership agreement with NMMU in the design, development and delivery of a Nestlé Supply Chain Development Programme.

Subject Matter Experts of both Nestlé and NMMU have been working together to ensure a cutting-edge programme is designed to address current managers with ways to improve their functional, leadership and academic skills and as such the programme consists of six modules directly related to the functional field of supply chain and three modules related to generic management and leadership competencies. Prof Horn indicated that the slogan: “Empowering Leaders for Tomorrow” encapsulates the ultimate exit level outcome of this intervention.

According to Mr Charles Hopkins, Head of the Nestlé Supply Chain College, the College has defined its vision as: “To develop the best-in-class supply chain team through providing focussed, tailored and specific qualifications, knowledge and skills that will set the platform for providing sustainable value creation for customers, suppliers and key stakeholders”. The mission of the College is to have their supply chain division run by graduate Professionals.

Dr Tony Domingo, Director of Nestlé’s Supply Chain Division, indicated that this intervention is the start of a long-term collaborative partnership with the ultimate aim of translating the Nestlé Supply Chain Development Programme into a Diploma Programme in the future.
