Port Elizabeth, 1 March 2013 - Managers from East Cape Midlands College in Uitenhage and Lovedale College in King Williams Town recently embarked on a six-month Management Enhancement Programme (MEP) presented by NMMU Business School.
The programme, funded by ETDP SETA, aims to boost management competencies for stakeholders in further education training (FET) colleges in the Eastern Cape.
MEP aims to enhance management capacity and the composition of the programme focuses on problem solving, decision-making, conflict resolution, time and project management as well as mentorship.
NMMU Business School’s Head of Business Development, Joey Staphorst said:
“It is a privilege for NMMU Business School to support management and leadership development of our peers in education who are entrusted with continuing training and further education. The skills reinforced by the MEP programme are essential skills in the complex business and educational environments we operate in and are designed to impact the work environment from the offset.
“We look forward to receive feedback from the group, confirming the anticipated improvements in behaviour, influence and synergy within their teams,” she said.
Last year, NMMU Business School received SETA accreditation for the majority of NQF level 4 & 5 modules, which are available and presented in PE, George & East London.
“Nationally SETA accredited courses are also available through our in-house and customised learning division to other organisations in South Africa who are not based in the Eastern and Southern Cape,” said Staphorst.
She said that other SETA accredited courses are available for stakeholders in education and training, including: Assessor Course, Facilitator Course, Moderator Course and Skills Development Facilitator Course.
