Dr Pieter Pretorius: Project Management 3rd Year Elective Module
NMMU Business School takes pleasure in welcoming Dr Pieter Pretorius to the Graduate School. Dr Pretorius will, from the 23rd-26th of March , be lecturing the third-year elective module, Project Management, to MBA students from Port Elizabeth, Gauteng, George and East London.
Dr Pretorius holds the following academic qualifications: BEng (Industrial), MBA and PhD (Industrial). Interestingly, Dr Pretorius completed his studies in 1985 and was appointed at Lyttelton Engineering Works, where he was involved in Project Management and the design of logistic support systems. He also contributed towards integrating the design, operations procurement and logistic functions into an integrated product definitions management approach, using the MRP systems as an integration medium. He joined the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Pretoria (UP) in 1991, where he lectured Production Management and IT System Design to fourth-year Industrial Engineering students. He also introduced a new Postgraduate course in Logistics Engineering, which is still currently being offered.
Dr Pretorius moved to the UP Department of Engineering and Technology Management to teach Operations Management on the MBA and Engineering programme in 1998. He has acted as a study leader for more than 65 Master level research projects and dissertations and is the author of 11 peer-reviewed journal articles, the most recent in 2013. He has further participated in a number of local and international conferences. In 2002, he presented a number of guest lectures on Operations Management at the Technical University of Eindhoven in The Netherlands.
