NMMU Business School and Cape Pine Launch Leadership Programme

George, 4 March 2014 – NMMU Business School George and Southern Cape recently launched a Foundational Leadership Skills Programme for eco-timber company, Cape Pine. The programme will run for five months and was launched in February.

The objectives of the programme are to promote improved business acumen along with a functional personal development component for Cape Pine staff.

Modules were carefully selected from NMMU Business School’s programme suite, so as to satisfy the foundational development objectives of the organisation.

The current programme will include modules that will address emotional intelligence and creative problem solving.  On the functional side delegates will gain the necessary skills to apply tools for continuous improvement and workplace discipline.

Fifteen regional supervisors of Cape Pine have registered for the programme which will is being offered at the MTO Forestry Concordia Training Centre in Knysna. 

Cape Pine is one of the largest wood companies in South Africa and maintains tracts of sustainable forestry between Port Elizabeth and Cape Town along South Africa’s Garden Route. Their attitude towards developing a sustainable ecology has resulted in unique environmental benefits for South Africa. 

Currently, Cape Pines plants a new tree every 20 seconds.
