Port Elizabeth, 22 April 2014 – Chief Executive of Ascendis Health Dr. Karsten Wellner visited NMMU Business School’s new facility recently to present lecture on international management and the effects of a more globalised economy. The lecture was attended by a full class of MBA students.
Dr. Wellner previously spent time as a guest lecturer for NMMU Business School in 2009. He has also spent time as a part-time lecturer at the University of Stellenbosch’s Business School.
In his talk, Dr. Wellner managed to cover a wide depth of ground on the subject of globalisation and its effects on internalisation strategies.
"His international experience was evident throughout the lecture and he was able to integrate all the aspects that we have covered in the module,” stated MBA student Watiri Kanyutu.
“Dr. Wellner also actively engaged the class into the topic and people were receptive throughout the session,” she concluded.
MBA student, Cayleigh Barton, also attended the lecture and commented that “Dr. Wellner covered pertinent topics such as standardisation, trade policies and theories as well as the drivers of Globalisation - economic policy changes, technological advancements and political changes”
“The lecture was extremely informative, and his vast industry knowledge gave us a great overview of Globalisation and its effect on international business,” she said.
Dr. Wellner is the current CEO of Ascendis Health, and has worked internationally all over the world. His business experience includes time at Fresenius AG, Germany, and Fresenius Kabi in both Switzerland and South Africa. He also acts as an independent board member at Alpha Pharm East Cape Holdings.
