South African Business Leaders to visit Bay for Leadership Summit

South African business leaders, captains of industry and entrepreneurial thought leaders will engage with the leaders and executives of Nelson Mandela Bay at the Nelson Mandela Bay Leadership Summit held 4 June 2014.

The upcoming one-day executive event was officially announced yesterday by the Sum

mit’s primary event partners: The Herald, NMMU Business School, and Ukuvula Foundation.  

The Summit’s line-up of confirmed guest speakers include  Peter Vundla (Chairman: African Merchant & Investment Bank), Brand Pretorius (Retired Chief Executive: McCarthy Limited), Prof. Shirley Zinn (HR Consultant and former Standard Bank Global HR Head), Piet Mouton (CEO: PSG), Phuti Mahanyele (Director of Shanduka Group), Cheryl Carolus (Executive Chair of Peotona Group and Chairman of Gold Fields) and Gareth Ackerman (Chairman of Pick ‘n Pay Holdings Limited).

The vision of the summit is to support the sustainable future, growth, and development of Nelson Mandela Bay through an event that will explore the best-practices, ideas, and lessons of visionary, responsible, and forward-thinking leadership through the contributions of respected South African business leaders.

Goals of Nelson Mandela Bay Leaderhip Summit 2014 are:

  • To celebrate, raise awareness, and promote the critical importance of leadership as the catalytic driver of growth and economic development in Nelson Mandela Bay.

  • To nurture, develop, and empower existing and upcoming leaders and executives of Nelson Mandela Bay.

  • To provide a platform of leadership knowledge exchange, dialogue and debate between Nelson Mandela Bay executives and respected South African leaders.

  • To create an atlas of leadership issues, challenges, and opportunities within Nelson Mandela Bay and a shared vision of leadership in the city.

  • To induce critical reflections on leadership, and catalyse the mechanisms of positive change required for the creation of a sustainable future

The NMMU Business School’s newly constructed four star rated green facility on 2nd Avenue Campus will be the setting of the 2014 Nelson Mandela Bay Leadership Summit on 4 June 2014.

Proceeds from the Nelson Mandela Bay Leadership Summit will go to the Ukuvula Foundation: a charitable, non-profit trust that was established to coordinate and fund social development initiatives.  The foundation’s vision of making a difference through shared learning, development and empowerment is being achieved through the tertiary education bursaries it grants to individuals across the nation.
